Local Inspection Requirements

Requirements
LADBS conducts grading inspections at key milestones (rough grade, final grade, drainage installation). Separate BMP inspections by Bureau of Sanitation during rainy season (Oct 1 – Apr 15).

No additional city certification beyond QSP/QSD; however, the Deputy Grading Inspector program applies to grading permit compliance

Los Angeles enforces one of the strictest LID ordinances in the country, requiring full on-site retention of the 85th-percentile storm. The city's dual-agency enforcement (LADBS for grading permits, Bureau of Sanitation for water quality) requires careful coordination. Projects in hillside areas face significantly more complex permitting.

Remember: These local requirements are in addition to the SWRCB state construction permit. Both must be satisfied before breaking ground.
